🍝 Classic Garlic Butter Parmesan Pasta
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
- 8 oz (225g) pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or your choice)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
- ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional, for brightness)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add butter and olive oil.
- Once melted, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant (don’t burn the garlic!).
- Toss the Pasta:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet.
- Toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
- Add reserved pasta water a little at a time to help coat the noodles and create a light sauce.
- Add Cheese & Seasoning:
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and lemon juice if using.
- Toss well to combine everything.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh parsley and more Parmesan on top.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
🍽 Variations:
- Add sautéed shrimp, grilled chicken, or mushrooms for protein.
- Mix in baby spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra color and flavor.
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta if preferred.
