Homemade Pizza Recipe

Ingredients
(For one 12-inch pizza)

For the Dough:

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Pizza Sauce:

  • 1 cup (240ml) canned tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings (Customize as you like):

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices
  • Sliced bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Olives
  • Fresh basil
  • Grated Parmesan

Instructions

1. Make the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, mix all sauce ingredients.
  2. Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.

3. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.

4. Assemble the Pizza:

  1. Roll out dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  2. Carefully transfer dough to a piece of parchment paper.
  3. Spread sauce evenly over the dough.
  4. Add cheese and your favorite toppings.

5. Bake:

  1. Slide parchment with pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.

6. Serve:

  • Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy!

🍴 Tips:

  • Add red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Drizzle with olive oil or balsamic glaze before serving for extra flavor.
  • You can freeze extra dough for later use.
