Ingredients (For one 12-inch pizza)
For the Dough:
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Pizza Sauce:
- 1 cup (240ml) canned tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings (Customize as you like):
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Pepperoni slices
- Sliced bell peppers
- Mushrooms
- Olives
- Fresh basil
- Grated Parmesan
Instructions
1. Make the Dough:
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, mix all sauce ingredients.
- Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
3. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
4. Assemble the Pizza:
- Roll out dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
- Carefully transfer dough to a piece of parchment paper.
- Spread sauce evenly over the dough.
- Add cheese and your favorite toppings.
5. Bake:
- Slide parchment with pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly and browned.
6. Serve:
- Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy!
