Ingredients (Makes 4 burgers)

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp onion powder (optional)

For Assembling:

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Slices of cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion slices (raw or grilled)
  • Pickles
  • Ketchup, mustard, mayo, or your favorite sauces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties:

    • In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and optional spices. Don’t overwork the meat.
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about ¾-inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  2. Cook the Patties:

    • Grill Method: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill patties for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Add cheese in the last minute if using.
    • Stovetop Method: Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until cooked to desired doneness.
  3. Toast the Buns:

    • Lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Burgers:

    • Spread sauces on the buns.
    • Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles to the bottom bun.
    • Place the hot patty on top (with melted cheese if using).
    • Top with the other half of the bun.

🔥 Tips:

  • Don’t press down on the patties while cooking – it squeezes out juices.
  • Use freshly ground beef for best flavor.
  • Customize with extras like bacon, fried egg, jalapeños, or avocado.
